Silent Assassin is usually portrayed as the best in the series. A must play for any Hitman fan since the story is really intriquing and the last two missions are just amazing. It's way better than people make it out to be if they play it nowadays. (Edit: After reading this I realized that it sounds very negative, but I really enjoyed Codename 47. The default control scheme is awkward to use, the graphics might seem like they're ugly (although it's completely subjective of course), the AI feels non-existent and some of the missions are just way too hard if you don't want to shoot every NPC on the map. It plays a lot around the psychology of the main character and is actually quite interesting if you dig into it, but only if you've already seen some of the things that happened before.Īs for the first two games - Codename 47 and Silent Assassin - Codename really hasn't age very well. The story is minimal and you won't get as much out of it if you don't already know the previous games. Even though it is my favorite out of the series.

You can customize and upgrade your weapons. At the beginning of each Blood Money stage, you have an inventory going in. But each level is a unique area with a story of it's own. Blood Money's story is relegated to the background and only directly impacts a couple of levels. And almost every level is a progression of the story. Some target kills are cutscenes, removing the thrill of the game from you. It feels a lot less open-endedĪbsolution has more of an active story. Absolution has a couple beautiful levels, but a majority of the game is, get from point A to B. Each level has tons of replayability and has a simple format. Except for the first mission which is a straight tutorial mission. But that doesn't mean it's best for everyone.īlood Money has amazing open-ended levels. While Blood Money is more complicated in controls than Absolution, it is the best (imo) of the classic Hitman games. Absolution was simplified for mainstream casual gamers. While Blood Money is not as accessible as Absolution. Blood Money may take longer to get the hang of, but I feel it is more satisfying. Absolution is Hitman on easy/simplified mode imo.
